Having just had the opportunity to work with Master plants and have greater connectivity between my body, emotional spaces, history, intentions, and spirit facilitated and “lubricated” by ceremonies involving space holding, body work, and Icaro singing as well as the sacredness of a kind group present, I am preparing to return to my “regular” life and to maintain the feelings of cleanliness. It will be an honor to continue being curious and to maintain the transformative energies into the future and into my healing work with my clients.
The first thing I notice on my first day eating more normally is greater sensitivity to what goes into my body. I had a crepe at a cafe in Alajuela–the smaller town near the San Jose Costa Rica airport, with ice cream and chocolate sauce. It tasted too sweet and I left most of the sauce behind. Still, I woke up with a small hang over this morning and knew clearly that this was a sugar hang over–after 2 weeks without added sugar (or salt, or oil) in my dieta. I did not know sugar could cause a “hang over” but it clearly can–as if it over-stimulated and then tired out my metabolism, creating an unpleasant foggy feeling. Good information. At this crossroads, rather than choosing to 1) get used to regular sugar and dampen the hang over response through increased exposure, I also have the choice to 2) listen to the unpleasant feeling and trust that the plant energy inside me is contributing to this opinion and facilitate a sustained shift to rare/reduced added sugars in my diet.
I also had a (weak) cup of Earl Grey tea for the first time in 3 weeks this morning, and this feels strong, and lovely. But again, I want to honor tea and caffeine as a powerful and exhilarating treat rather than rely on it to provide alertness needed to compensate for insufficient sleep.
